About
Hayati Misman is a Turkish artist unbound by material, craftsmanship, or dimension. His work spans along the breadth of materials from painting to sculpture to print-making to a combination of all in unique practices of creation through spontaneity.
His career as an artist begun by providing for his mother at the age of 10 through painting a Turkish poet on wooden spoons sold to tourists in a rural village in western Turkey. Through these first miniature paintings, one might believe he fell in love with paint and portraiture. It was obvious in his community that he had natural instinct of creativity and was bound for a life of artistic accumulation. After years of standing out at University, Misman was the sole recipient of the 1970 Scholarship from the Turkish National Education Ministry. This scholarship meant being sent to Germany for a Doctorate Program in which he earned his PhD. at the Kassel State Fine Arts Academy. Through 5 years of study and artistic evolution, Hayati gained the experience to return to Turkey to excel in a teaching career at Turkey’s top Universities. Retiring in 2005 from Hacettepe University arts department, stepping down from his role as President of the Painting Department, Hayati continues to visit his studio each day to create what is objectively his most vibrant works to date. His new work is the contemporary evolution of his life; his mastery, inspirations, and developed techniques.

Artists Opinions
"For many years, various articles have been written, many cataloques have been published, and programs have been broadcastted on the works and exhibitions of Hayati Misman, who is one of the few outstanding printmaking artistsin our country. Consequently, i know, everybody who has and interest in plastic arts, discovered his artistic abilities, his mastership, and what, why, and how he did.
Hayati Misman in the field of original-printing, besides his victory over the technology of metal engraving, has managed to come out each time with “fresh” works where no technical management, especially in such a field as printmaking where the craftsmanship takes a long time, is not sufficient by itself.
His lyrical and sensitive attitude towards man and his relations which may sometimes be dramatical, his spontaneous and “mysterious” attitude, and his way of questioning life by the language of art, are the most important points of his always fresh and healthy process of artistic production.
On the other hand, it would be unfair not to mention his expressionist, passionate but mature artistic language directed towards deformation and abstraction, besides a completely solved additive order and powerful, tough and tensioned forms, annd also the experienced artist’s attention to achieve rich, balanced linear tastes, and to compostition.
This visual master who trancended the ordinary catagories, is able to play with forms so bravely that he makes use of incidental values in a most effective way the intuition of an experienced artist. He will enrich our lives with his forecoming works and exhibitions; and we still have a lot to learn from him."

"Since his studentship years until today, probably one of the most effficient painting skills of Hayati he used masterly is undoubtly “the contour.” His paintings equipped with his mission of contour which he presents fully his self-style within an expressionist sensitivity whcih always attracts my attention. This characteristic corresponds to the active and oscillating brushworks. Right at this point, i think his childish sensitivity supports his expressinist side. Because he intoduces such approaches in his paintings that he does not repeat what he did. May be this is one of the characteristics that make an dartist out of a sincere human being.""
Ozkan Ergolu, 1998"The engraving works of Hayati Misman seem to have a method conscious of an artist surrounded with disciplinary experimentations, that is left mind and sensitivity periods to a seettlement from time to time with spontaneous criterions. the auditiing mechanisms before and after appliance i saquipped with preparing and preventing functions of all circumstances in which compositions formed fresh and healthy."
